Guided Reading Level N, Grade Level Equivalent 3. Veterans Day, once called Armistice Day, was originally a time set aside to remember soldiers who died in World War I. After the Korean war, the holiday was renamed and designated as a day to thank all men and women who have served in the armed forces during wartime or peacetime.

TEACHING TIPS

Say Thanks. Ask your class to write notes to those who serve or have served in the United States military, thanking them for their efforts to keep our country safe and strong.
